Sustainability Made Simple, the book

We are happy to announce that our book, Sustainability Made Simple: Small Changes for Big Impact, is officially out! As a reader of The Sustainability Co-Op, you are familiar with our approach, which strives to understand and communicate the interconnectedness between our lives and global and local environmental issues. Sustainability Made Simple expands upon this approach and is designed for anyone who would like to learn more about what sustainability is about. The book walks the reader through small, actionable steps anyone can take to reduce their environmental footprint in their daily routine.

We never could have imagined the context into which this book would be released as the world has changed significantly since we started sketching out ideas at the end of 2015. On the positive side, the first comprehensive international climate change agreement was ratified in 2016 and on the negative side, in 2017 federal social and environmental policy in the U.S. is turning back decades of progress. Yet this new context reaffirms and strengthens our initial reasoning for imagining to write a book on sustainability. We need a systematic change more than ever now, one where individuals are at the forefront of demanding a healthy and happy environment and community for today and for the next generation. By understanding the challenges society faces, but also recognizing that individual people and communities in their everyday lives are key to overcoming this, Sustainability Made Simple emphasizes and helps drive individual action toward sustainability.

Thank you to all our readers, friends and family – we are so grateful and could not have done it without your support! Now, we are excited to spread the word about sustainability and be part of the solution to make change happen!
